Global Dignity Day

On Global Dignity Day, our school held a special assembly to celebrate the importance of

dignity in our community and the world. RSS Children Ambassadors shared powerful

messages on what dignity truly means—respect, kindness, and equality for all.

They reminded us of the Article 1 which states that dignity is our inherent value and worth ashuman beings; everyone is born with it, and Article 28 that as duty bearers we need to

ensure that in school children’s rights are always respected and that they are consistent

with the child’s human dignity.

They discussed why dignity matters in fostering a compassionate environment and how we

can show dignity through our actions, words, and attitudes towards others. The assembly

was a reminder that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and that small acts of

kindness can make a big impact.

Matthew 7:12

“So, in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you”

Our worship finished with this prayer.

Dear God,

Teach us to treat others with kindness,

To see value in every person we meet,

And to speak and act with love,

So that we reflect Your dignity in all we do.

Amen

Year 1 made a giant friendship chain filled with their thoughts on the importance of friendship in the classroom and how friends can help each other with their learning.

friendship in the classroom and how friends can help each other with their learning.

Year 2 made Dignity promises.

Year 3 made 'dignometers' as a tool that shows others when we feel our dignity is being

respected and when we feel it is not. They also made Dignity promises.

Year 5 reflected on Matthew 7:12, exploring its connection to our

Anti-Racism unit in RE. They focused on the themes of respect, fairness, honesty, equity and

equality, and our rights, and discussed how these principles guide us in loving our

neighbours as ourselves. This reflection encouraged us to think deeply about how we can

embody these values in our daily interactions, fostering a more compassionate and just

world for all.

Year 6 made butterflies of dignity and set them free to carry their message around the

world.

Years R and 4 made Digni-trees’. The children wrote on a leaf what dignity means to them.

Year 4 wrote on red leaves and green leaves, filling in the red leaves for what needs to

change and filling in green leaves for ideas on how to change.
