Hanukkah

Year 1 enjoyed learning about Hanukkah with Anna’s mum, as part of our RE curriculum. Anna’s mum explained how Hanukkah is a special holiday that Jewish families celebrate and that Hanukkah is also called the festival of lights because Jewish people light the Hanukkah candles on the menorah for 8 nights. We had fun playing the Jewish spinning top game dreidels and making our own menorahs. We loved eating the doughnuts which remind Jewish people of the miracle of the oil that lasted for 8 days in the story of Hanukkah. Thank you so much to Anna’s mum for such an inspiring lesson on Hanukkah.
