Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Hebrews 13.16
A message from the Head
We are now halfway through the school year, and we are wondering how fast the year has flown by so far!
Our children have continued to explore the Christian value ‘Justice’ in class, and collective worship. We have been sharing with the children that Justice is not about a culture that encourages everyone to insist on their own rights at the expense of others; it is about a community that knows that everyone’s well-being is as important as that of everyone else. Please continue to help us reinforce this message at home.
As we have entered the season of Lent, children can learn a bit more about this through this BBC Bitesize short video
They can also engage in some random acts of kindness activities
Year 6 visit The Houses of Parliament
Turing Y6 visited the Houses of Parliament last week as part of the their PSHE learning around Fundamental British Values and Democracy. They were to meet with Ed Davey, our local MP, and had the opportunity to ask questions.
Year 5 go to Chelsea Football Club
Miss Wilson took a group of Y5 children to Chelsea Football club for a day of activities. They thoroughly enjoyed their day out!
Chelsea Football club are also in school for the next couple of weeks working with children in KS2.
Year 1 lead collective worship
Well done to Edison Y1 for leading Collective Worship on Tuesday 28th on the Christian value Justice! The children all were very impressive as this was their first time of presenting to an audience. We hope you enjoyed the reflection time, and learnt a little more about Justice.
World Book Day
World Book Day 2023 started with a whole school assembly. The winners of the story writing competition were announced and everyone was amazed by the quality of the work produced by all classes. The children looked amazing in their costumes and each class paraded around the hall.
Throughout the rest of the day, the classes paired up and the older children read to the younger children. The older children thought about books they loved when they were the age of their audience and had taken time to prepare their performance. This was lovely - as you can see from the photographs taken throughout the day. It was almost entirely run by the children in Key Stage 2 and they gave a very good account of themselves. It was a great day, and with the book swap on Friday and the author visit next week, the reading-based fun is set to continue.
Thank you for the support you have provided the school with our annual Book Week celebrations. Our children have had a fabulous time engaging with all the activities planned, including celebrating the ‘Short Stories’ competition organised by Mr Redhead, and the ‘ Book Swap’.
